5 Days. 4 Villages. 12 Screening Venues. This is what the website states.

More than 100 movies, more than 250 film makers but also chef and wineries, again! Wine&food are the main characters as usual… and what a perfect combination anyway…

From the 13th to the 17th of Nov 2013 I have had the pleasure to join the 3rd edition of Napa Film Festival who aims at bringing Hollywood stars here to North California. A reserved event still enjoyable by residents and me of course, not crowded at all but well organized and rich of movies, documentaries, events. There were 12 screening venues located in Napa, St Helena, Yountville, Calistoga, projecting important as well as less known movies all the day long; right after: the interview to the film maker(s) and the possibility to ask questions again and again. A very warm atmosphere, an alive city but without any chaos!

I have seen mainly documentaries and I have been impressed by “Red Obsession” (trailer): an ironic, intelligent and interesting documentary which tell us about Bordeaux and the obsession for this wine: how chineses try “to copy” it, what about the main collector of Bordeaux who, by the way,  produces sex toys, how Napa and the world draw inspiration from this wine; yet,  what’s the philosophy of the main managers of those wineries and what about the best experience of a wine seller who sold cases of Bordeaux for thousand euros to a Japanese man who paid cash! Narrated by Russel Crowe, the film maker told the public how they managed to tell so many episodes they found also for a fortuity while they were already working on the movie. And this is the reason why they released it a little bit in late (the only one flaw of it and so some phenomena are already overcome nowadays)..

Not only the movies anyway: a lot of interesting events and appointments to taste wine and food were foreseen.  First of all, the Wine pavillons located at Copia (500 1st street), where culinary show took place as well as stands of wineries from all around California (not only from Napa and Sonoma) were available to the public to pour their wines.
