There are those places where you feel “at home” since you enter, because the owner greets you as if you knew him for years; because you find the taste of your territory, and when you get back from a trip you do not want other than that.

How many times have we heard/read these phrases? But how many times have you really experienced them?

From starred restaurant I expect a certain service, a certain wine list but then you need … to return “home” … without sacrificing taste and courtesy!

And at the Masseria Cuccaro restaurant owned by Luca Petrone and located in the town of Olevano (Campania region-southern Italy), I always have many excuses to go back. Not least a mini vertical tasting (same wine, same producer, different vintages) of his red wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Aglianico of good structure, pleasant and to be paired to food. We tasted together the vintages 2011, 2012 and 2013, and personally those with one or two more years have shown a better balance for sure!

The dishes to be paired are many: from tasty appetizers that change often, the typical

recipes of the territory such as home made pasta, pork, meat and local vegetables of the season; moreover there’s the pizza by meter (it is not round in this case but rectangular and ordered by length!); I suggest to try focaccia (pizza dough) with cheese and pepper on top. The spaces are large and the outdoor garden is widely appreciated.

Congratulations to the owner, mr. Luca, and good luck for this wine production whose vineyards accompany customers along the way to the entrance!
