Ms. Ida shows a true smile but free from any inexperience, a sentiment that has been replaced by awareness. The awareness that it is necessary to fight for anything: your own territory, the pride and even the protection and the valorization of the land itself.

Mr. Mario can penetrate you by a look, the typical gaze of people who truly listen to the others’ lives as our own life is not actually enough.

Those are the souls of San Giovanni estate in Cilento area, Campania region (southern Italy), close to the archeological city of Peastum.
“Since 1993 we are building a dream: the dream to live close to the pure nature offered by Punta Tresino town, to grow the ancient products of Cilento area with love and to protect this land”.

And we all know: only dreaming it is possible to build (solid) realities!

Mario and Ida – who studied Law and Architecture – moved to this magic corner of Italy where, at the beginning, they did not even find electricity or phone line!

4 hectars (10 acres) for 25.000 bottles per year: these are the numbers of one of the most interesting wineries in this area where you can find my beloved white wine named “Tresinus”, a classy Fiano (indigenous white of the area): sinous, mineral, full. A fresh wine that also shows flavours of mature fruits and that kind of passion that fires your soul up!

The red “Castellabate” is made with the spicy and bodied Aglianico  that with its roughness overlooks the drinkability of Piedirosso grape, flowing into a sea of aromatic persistence. As clearly showed by the label by the way (see pic on the right side)!

(Of course I mean this is a blend of Aglianico – indigenous red of the area, spread all over in southern Italy – and Piedirosso – another indigenous grape of the region).

The wines are 5 in total and the rooms available in their wine relais are just magic but I am not going to dwell: if I succeed in wheting you I am sure you will not miss the opportunity to drink this territory and visit these wines!
