It’s fair to say at this point that Game Of Thrones has become one of the most popular television series of all time. Based on a series of fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin and produced by HBO, the show has established global, viral reach. It’s taking the year 2018 off, but with a finale season coming next year it’s probably about to be bigger than ever.

One of the most remarkable things about the Game Of Thrones journey has been how expansive the franchise has gotten beyond HBO. Wine is a big part of the show; vintages from different parts of the fantasy realm are referenced frequently, and fan favorite character Tyrion Lannister is seldom seen without a drink in hand. Now you can actually find the wines online, as well as a few fun accessories (and for those interested, there are also Game Of Thrones beers brewed by the renowned brewery Ommegang).

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – This is the most expensive of the Game Of Thrones wines, and by some accounts the best as well. It’s a bold, heavy Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit-forward flavors and a smooth but dry finish. Have a glass of this with some red meat while you watch the show and you might just feel like you’re enjoying a true Dornish red.

Central Coast (California) Chardonnay – This is billed as a Chardonnay, but is actually a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Riesling. It’s received mixed reviews, but is generally a pleasant, lighter wine. It balances the typical buttery nature of a Chardonnay with some crisper and more citrus-infused tastes.

Paso Robles Red Blend – The red blend is best described as somewhat complex. It has several different kinds of red wine in it, with Syrah and Petite Sirah being the most dominant. Some have found this blend a little bit too strong, but eaten with the proper food it’s actually an interesting wine.
