The volcanic spirit of Michael Zaccheo overwhelms you and is reflected in the communication, in the wines, in the so airy estate of Montepulciano. Yes, because that of Montepulciano remains the most emblematic estate of Carpineto winery, which in addition to Nobile also produces in Chianti Classico, Montalcino and Maremma. After the launch in Chianti Classico in the ‘60s, they have built a certain reputation also in terms of wine tourism.

The charm of the open estate, the museum of ancient tools at the entrance, a beautiful architecture that also includes a room with a view on the cellar makes Carpineto a company to always return to with great pleasure. And it is now open to public every day for picnics in the vineyard, tastings, walks, visits, tastings.

The occasion is great to taste one of my favorite wines of the company tasted just recently on the occasion of the Anteprime Toscane 2021: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG whose grapes are grown on blue clay soils that outlines its power in the glass and leads to the production of the Riserva version only.

VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO RISERVA DOCG 2016

Sangiovese with 10% of other native grapes such as Canaiolo. Two years in Slavonian oak barrels of 50-100 HL and in 225L French oak barrels before aging in bottle.

The nose is deep and spicy with notes of infused violet, ripe black currant, wild fennel, walnut and integrated notes of wood such as vanilla. On the palate it is absolutely coherent: fine, composed, without intemperance, with a long finish and an important potential for aging.
