The Müller Thurgau Festival has now reached its thirty-fifth edition, confirming itself as an international meeting with labels from various European countries thanks to the wide participation to the correlated contest: Müller Thurgau International Wine Competition and it is held in Cembra Valley, a mountainous zone in Trentino area, Northern Italy.
An appointment organized by the ‘Mostra Valle di Cembra Committee’ with the support of Trentino Marketing and the association of ‘Trentino Wine Routes’ which well explain the aim as whole: to explore the entire territory by means of the various activities well developed in the area: trekking, bike tours, wine&food tours well combined to local attractions and so on. Activities that I would seriously invite everyone to discover on the website of the Trentino Wine Route, a body that I find particularly proactive.
The festival was launched last June, the 30th and closes today, July the 3rd, when there is still time to take advantage of the various scheduled events, including the tasting of the wines of the wineries involved. And on Friday, July the 1st, the winners of the international competition were unveiled. We have probably already read the names (I report them below), but I like to underline the international participation. Out of 82 labels in competition, 24 wines were awarded, those that obtained scores above 85.5 with 12 labels from Trentino, 2 from South Tyrol at North, 1 from Valle d’Aosta and 9 from abroad: 6 German, 2 Swiss and one Czech. Furthermore, 19 are from 2021 vintage, 4 from 2020 and 1 from 2019, demonstrating the unexpected, although discreet, potential for ageing.
Could the Cembra Valley be capable of becoming a European reference point for a global exchange as well as the value appreciation of the latest generation Müller Thurgau?
