Here we are! At the Leopolda Station in Florence, where we all are ready to come in and try over 140 manufacturers and their products: the famous Chianti Classico wine (Toscana), they all belog to the consorzio represented by Gallo Ner0 (black rooster).

The room is long and full, the colorful banners group the proiducers by area: Gaiole in Chianti area where the famous Barone Ricasoli is located, San Casciano Val di Pesa where we find the new “Antinori Chianti Classico” , Castellina in Chianti where the well-known Banfi (notorius for its Brunello) has a recent and small production of Chianti is, yet Radda, Greve and so on with the production areas permitted by the classification.
it is Warm, welcoming, with a stylish graphics: the black rooster (symbol of the consorzio of chianti) in all its glory. There are also postcards to keep as a souvenir.

At the entrance I get my booklet with companies in alphabetical order to take notes.

I have not tried them all and I apologize for any shortcomings but I find that there are several worthy of note!

(discover all the labels here: http://www.chianticlassico.com/en/aziende/)

Different styles: big barrel, barrique, great selections, everyone stands in their work.

I immediately hit the wines of Bibbiano with their own personality: in particular their “Chianti Classico Montelloro 2011”, with a strong hint of cherry jam, perfectly balanced acidity and great roundness; their “Gran selezione” is also notable also thanks to the vintage: 2010. An important note also goes on to Castle Volpaia for the gran selezione  “Il Puro (The Pure)” 2010 that I was not able to try when I visited them the week before.

Then I like to mention “Chianti Classico Fontodi 2010” of Fontodi winery, among the complex and particularly pleasant spices, tobacco and red fruit.

And then a completely different style is offered by  the winery “Lamole of Lamole” where they only use big barrels. Only 50 acres for wines of great freshness : so much fruit and very pleasant even in young vintages.

I also had the opportunity to discover companies  I did not know, “San Felice” where I tried both the basic Chianti and the Riserva as well as their “Gran Selezione” of particular roundness. Yet the winery “Collazzi” which mainly produce oil but the wines impressed me for the minerality that I find to be transferred from the Malvasia ..

I would still stay but I came in at 1 AM ( opening time ) and it already 7,30 PM (they are going to close at 8 PM), maybe it is time to go.
