When I was in California I met Laurie Figone a very very nice chef with italian origins Laurie Figone. We spent 1 entire day together with the crew of a local channel to shoot a cooking show. That day she prepared a fantastic risotto with tomato sauce and much more…

But I want to discover more about her Italian origins and about her recipes!

Some details:

  • Laurie Figone, was born Laurie Leveroni, into a family rich with Italian heritage.
  • Her Great-Great Grandparents were from Como and Genoa in Northern Italy.
  • Her passion for food began at a young age, gathering with family every Sunday at her Grandparents house for dinner.
  • She learned to make her family’s ravioli from her Grandmother long time ago, a recipe passed down through the generations.

Laurie started cooking before she could even reach the counter top, having to use a stool to reach.  Loving to create her own recipes even then, she never really believed the complements from others regarding her food.  Until, just four years ago, she entered her focaccia bread recipe in a contest without telling anyone.  When her recipe won, she was a believer!!   Since then, she has won nine national and one international recipe/cook-offs; made appearances on Fox40 TV in Sacramento, CA and on the TODAY Show in New York.

Since 2010 she is  “Cooking With Laurie”, a show about bringing the best of Sonoma and Marin Counties produce into the kitchen and introducing you to the growers and producers.
