How magic Rosé wine is. At once: full and refreshing, tempered and gentle, persistent and easy-drinking. It guarantees the much-acclaimed flexibility in the wine and food pairing, in any seasons and also in the dynamism of the tasting.

It happens often and above all in Central and Southern Italy with those rosé wines that are already well defined in color, savoury and ‘flowing’.

I thought about it while tasting “Ligrezza” the rosé produced by Terre di Balbia, a Calabrian winery located in Altomonte (province of Cosenza), 100% Gaglioppo, vintage 2018 in perfect shape.

Austere wine, dry, with medium plus alcohol so, thanks to its body, perfect to be paired to dishes of medium structure. At the same time, it offers a still lively acidity that extends to an almondy finish along a pleasant savour trail. Consistent in the nose-mouth scents recalling notes of preserved wild strawberry, paprika and walnut husk.
