What is striking about Cantina del Vesuvio is the ability to combine the territoriality and excellences of a special land with a model that is easily associated with Californians, a country which is certainly among the pioneers in the winetourism sector having seized this opportunities ahead of many other countries, often before the “traditional” ones just like Italy.
I have written and spoken about it a lot having spent time in California for study and work and having published, afterwards, a comparison report Italy-California on Wine Business Monthly.
A topic, therefore, very hot for me and one that I care a lot about also given my recent specialization and collaborations in the winetourism sector.
Wine tourism is not only a (good) business and diversification opportunity but also a concrete integral strategy for territorial communication in favor of the perception of the product itself, which can change and become more effective.
Cantina del Vesuvio approach responds to all this thanks to a genuine hospitality, only apparently simple, professional and very structured, which leverages the charm of a territory like that of Vesuvius, the famous volcano which destroyed the Roman city of Pompeii centuries ago (Campania region).
The credit goes to the foresight of Maurizio Russo, the owner, who invested in the family business aware of the vision and innate abilities of his son Giovanni, whose picture is completed by the cooking classes of Ester Grosso in her typical and welcoming corner and from whose book ‘From Capri to Vesuvo’ (also given its origins: the island of Capri) it is easy to draw with satisfaction.
In short, a few minutes from Naples, you can reach a terrace with a double view: Vesuvius on one side and the Gulf of Naples on the other and taste the typical products of the area – starting with a wonderful spaghetti with tomato sauce – combined with the company’s wines. Wines that, among other things, are only available by direct sales/wine club as often, yet, in California. A model facilitated by the extraordinary nature of certain products, of that view, of the aromas.
