From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd November 2024 the 44th edition of the Salone Bianco Pregiato will be held among the streets, squares and Renaissance buildings of the historic centre of Città di Castello.
For the first time the Salone will host cooking activities with Japanese chefs, dedicated to the combinations of the prized white truffle, “la trifola”, from Città di Castello and contemporary ethnic cuisine dishes. Special attention will also be paid to the youngest with a new space dedicated to “mixology”.
Città di Castello, home of great Renaissance artists and icons of contemporary art such as the master, Alberto Burri, is the land with over 1,000 “cavatori”, men and women of all ages and is second only to Forlì for the incidence of truffle hunters on the population, with almost 3 thousand champion scent dogs in tow, a living symbol of a research activity declared an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet great chefs, food and wine experts, aspiring chefs from the world of school, who will be the protagonists of show cooking, workshops and conversations. In the restaurants you can taste truffle dishes with special menus, street food with the flavors of typical Italian, Umbrian and international cuisine will populate alleys and squares together with a wide selection of zero-mile agri-food products.
In the 3rd “Memorial Alessandro Ghigi”, in the competition of search dogs and truffle digging (with the best dogs of every breed and size) that will be held on Sunday morning, November 3 in the ring at the Giardini del Cassero, the diggers of the Associazione Tartufai Alto Tevere will offer a demonstration of the passion and love with which they live the forest.
