I have already written about the importance of wine for each religion and how it has influenced the current wine culture.

A study of Brigham Young University in Utah has shown that the term yayin (wine) is used 140 times in the Old Testament; yet, the “Oxford Companion to Wine” explains that the vine is mentioned more than any other plant.

So, now, it would be nice to know which wine Jesus was used to drink, for example which wine has been drunk at the wedding where He did his first miracle when he transformed water into wine?
A group of enologist in Israel is running a study through DNA and excavations and so far, 70 local grape varieties have been identified, only 20 are suitable for winemaking. It is not an easy goal after such a long time and after a great number of crossings, cultures and climate changes but they are going on!

We look forward to reading the coming developments, in the meantime we can enjoy the wine produced in the 2015 by Recanati Winery from a local variety: marawi!
