“There are 3 things in a bottle: the history (see the marble tables on winemaking in Strongoli KR), the territory (listed in the New York Times) and the producer, if he is unpleasant it is bad”, cit. Roberto Ceraudo, producer in Calabria, Southern Italy.

CERAUDO – DATTILO RESTAURANT

On the occasion of my last lunch at Dattilo, the starred restaurant by Caterina Ceraudo, I paired the family wines to discover the current vintages which, for whites and rosés, is 2023. A dry year which therefore led to an early harvest to avoid any risks and, hence, the wine are less alcoholic and very elegant so much so as to have led to the idea of maintaining this practice also in the future. The Mediterranean character was confirmed but in a setting of indisputable finesse.

CERAUDO – NEW WINERY

PETELIA (white). Great welcoming nose with notes of orange flower, Mediterranean scrub, almond. Velvety, not very long as planned but particularly pleasant.

GRISARA (white). Fine and layered, with well defined fruity notes such as candied citrus and sugared almonds, the flower is subtle, in particular a delicate jasmine. Smooth palate, less alcoholic than in the past.

IMYR (white). Intense nose of vanilla, smoke and broad bean. Coherent, round on the palate but very well balanced with an aftertaste of citrus liqueur and pink grapefruit.

NANA (red). Wild strawberry on the nose, inviting and delicious. More intense on the palate, perfect even in summer.

DOROBE (dessert wine). Unique passito, unobtainable, in my opinion one of the best in Italy and comparable to some of the best ones abroad in this category.

CERAUDO – DOROBE PASSITO

VERMOUTH. Excellent new release, see the video I shared on Instagram a few weeks ago (available on my wall: Instagram).
