Campania Stories is the event for the international press organized in Campania region, Southern Italy, every year to a offer a serious focus on the emerging wines of this charming and diverse region.

This year’s edition has been hosted by the volcanic area of Vesuvio, district of Napoli and, as usual, it has combined the tasting sessions of whites and reds&rosé with the tours of the all wine areas of Campania region.

As co-editor of the guide to the best Italian rosé powered by Luciano Pignataro, 100 best Italian Rosé, am happy to focus on the pink production the region has to offer.

When it comes to rosé wines, aesthetics carry an extra, distinct weight (and the purists tout court will just have to get used to it — it’s a plus). That’s why Vetere by San Salvatore hits the mark: well made, smartly packaged, and gaining increasing market share thanks to its fresh, straightforward style in a multi-award-winning bottle.

Already celebrated are the beautiful labels by Guerritore, which perfectly reflect the finesse of wines like Diecimare 2024.

We move to the volcanic side of the region with the Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio 2024 by Cantina del Vesuvio — savoury and food-friendly to reflect their amazing approach to hospitality.

Once again, a solid showing from Massimo Setaro’s Lacryma Christi 2024, elegant and expressive of its terroir — a wine we’ll enjoy even more in a few months.

A real crowd-pleaser is the Pompeiano IGT 2024 from Bosco de’ Medici, proving just how much potential Mount Vesuvius holds for this category.

Yet from the Vesuvian area, Gelsorosa 2024 by Villa Dora stays true to a style that balances finesse and character.

When it comes to personality, the Irpinia Rosato certainly doesn’t hold back — in this case, Ophelia 2024 by Macchie Santa Maria.

I continue to be impressed by the wines from Cantina dei Quinti; their Volcei 2023 is hitting its stride right now.
