When Pasquale Torrente gave me his book after my last lunch at his Michellin starred restaurant ‘Casa Torrente Il convento’ I was happy. Curious to discover more about the behind the scenes of a figure that I admire also for the role he has and had for the territory of Cetara, south of Campania region, Southern Italy. Being originally from there, I remember the stages and I remember the evolution of ‘Cuopperia’ (mixed fried food): I was very young and still out of this (wine&food) world except for personal passion, I insisted on going there and I talked about it to everyone.

I didn’t think, however, that I would have read it all at once. I alway look for something new to read and to be surprised from; this book collects scattered thoughts and experiences that give the right sense of a path that is sometimes uphill, sometimes fun. A book without filters in which Pasquale expresses himself by taking the right credit without hypocrisy and by telling the connection with food and wine personalities from the wine&food journalist Pignataro and the enterpreneur Farinetti to chefs like Bottura or Cuttaia and beyond.

A common sense, a complete vision.
